UNINFORMED CONSENT, OLYMPIA,
WA –
Tomorrow scientists who presented evidence at the behest of Congress to the National Institute of Medicine denouncing the IOM’s report on mercury in vaccines will testify in front of the Washington State Committee for Health and Long Term Care.
Washington State Senate Bill 5305 restricting the use of mercury known as Thimerosal in pregnant women and children is under review. If passed, Washington will become the third state in the union to pass such legislation.
Last fall Gov. Schwarzenegger signed into law a similar bill in California. This came on the heels of Iowa whose governor, Thomas J. Vilsack, set national precedence in May 2004 by signing into law a bill to ban the use of the notorious neurotoxin, Thimerosal (ethyl mercury) still used in childhood vaccines and many other pharmaceutical products.
Dr. Mark Geier and David Geier will be testifying tomorrow Jan. 31, 2005 during a public hearing scheduled from 3”30 – 5:30PM in the John Cherberg Bldg., Senate Room 4.
A reception, hosted by Senator Marilyn Rasmussen, to meet and talk with the Geiers and lawmakers present, will be held in Room ABC between 2 – 3 PM (same building). Press is invited.
